CPS Records - Song Name [Vinyl]

Sale Price: £10.00 Original Price: £20.00
• Includes some of Lee Perry’s most influential productions.

• Many tracks new to CD.

• Features numerous major Jamaican hits.

Throughout his illustrious career as a record producer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry consistently sought to test and, if possible, extend the boundaries of reggae music through his often-unconventional experimentation with sound. By 1973, his productions clearly stood apart from those being created by any of his Jamaican peers, with his enthusiasm for the rapidly evolving sound of dub increasingly influencing the direction of his work.

This compelling selection, comprising the cream of Perry’s productions from the early months of 1973, features an abundance of high-quality recordings performed by a variety of premier talent, ranging from up-and-coming young DJs to long-established vocalists

The seventh release in the recently launched series of Doctor Bird 2CD sets charting Perry’s development as an independent producer from the late 60s onwards, ‘Jungle Lion’ showcases his most accomplished and innovative recordings prior to the opening of his pre-Black Ark recording studio.

It also demonstrates the why, by 1973, increasing numbers of Jamaican music aficionados were hailing him as a musical genius.
